Anxiety

I don’t have an MD, although I’m frequently diagnosing myself and others with a multitude of illnesses. Since Monday I have been having dizzy spells. The most current has lasted about 24 hours and I have temporarily diagnosed myself with Vertigo.

Acceptance Comes From Within

August 9, 2011

I went to work with my husband all by myself. And while I was there I got a phone call from my mom’s store (I managed her store for three years). They had a question about an order I was working on. It was important I leave in a timely fashion because I had a meeting at work, CDW (my […]

Lifesaver

August 8, 2011

On an airplane, they always tell you to put your oxygen mask on first and then your child’s. It’s counterintuitive since as parents we spend our lives caring for our children first and foremost. The thought that the parents’ oxygen is the priority over the child’s is hard to accept. Today I have been feeling under the weather. When I […]

Gabby + Cows = Not Friends

August 4, 2011

I admit it, I worry about my kids. Sure everyone worries about their kids to some level. I, however, worry an exorbitant amount. I come by it honestly though. I come from strong lineage of worriers. Of course most of it completely uncalled for but occasionally there is good reason. As I have mentioned before, Gabby has had problems eating […]

Drew is King of the World

August 2, 2011

At some point everyone must learn that the world doesn’t revolve around you. I guess not everyone since I know plenty of adults who haven’t learned this lesson. Let me correct myself, at some point I want my children to learn that the world doesn’t revolve around them. I want them to feel secure that there is someone who has […]

Xanax Please

July 25, 2011

Recently a local child died in a tragic accident at his overnight camp. The first thought that came to mind was that my kids are never going to overnight camp. I must keep a close eye on my children at all times. At first, the thought of my kids being under my supervision as much of the time as possible […]

Moving on up…at what cost?

July 21, 2011

The inner conflict with my dream to move continues. As some of you may remember, a year ago we had our house on the market with little success. As the summer continues, we are loving our community pool and living close to almost everything we could ever want. However, the frustration over not having a yard continues. In keeping tabs […]

She Eats!

July 15, 2011

Gabby has had problems eating really since day one. At first it was spitting up to the point where she wasn’t growing appropriately. Then, next came the months of vomiting. Doctors across America (really just a few doctors we have seen in the Chicagoland area) have fought me saying that she is probably just spitting up. I have patiently, and […]

I Will Survive…

July 11, 2011

I survived my first week at home. Survived is an interesting word. That verb used to describe how one handled being deserted on an island is in some ways vastly different than describing caring for ones children. In other ways, however, those experiences are extremely similar. The first half of the week was built on this elation of being home […]

Poker Face

July 6, 2011

Day one of being a stay at home mom and I’m still standing (or sitting in this case). As a safety measure for both the kids and me, I planned a fun-filled action packed day at the beach. Bags were packed, picnic made and we were off! As I was inching my way to the beach, the hard truth sunk […]
