She Eats!

Gabby has had problems eating really since day one. At first it was spitting up to the point where she wasn’t growing appropriately. Then, next came the months of vomiting. Doctors across America (really just a few doctors we have seen in the Chicagoland area) have fought me saying that she is probably just spitting up. I have patiently, and not so patiently at times, explained that due to my experience with Drew I clearly understand the difference.

Let me explain Drew. I have passed on a lot of things to him, but mostly my love for food. This video explains it all in a nutshell…

Need I say more? This issue with Gabby was definitely unique to me. Drew so obviously had no problem getting food in his mouth, chewing it and swallowing!

After trips to multiple Pediatricians, Gastroenterologists, and rounding the corner to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor, we stopped at speech therapy. Most family members didn’t understand the need for a speech therapist. After months of having “therapy meals,” trying different textures, pureeing food, etc., Gabby is finally eating!

She is legitimately putting food in her mouth, moving her tongue around, chewing and swallowing! Of course the bus boy who had to clean up her mess at the restaurant last night might feel otherwise, but I swear she is ingesting food!!! And yesterday we got the news that she can graduate from speech therapy! And one of these days when she is older and battling the diet demons, she may not be so happy I worked so hard for her to eat. I see an expert eater in our future 
