Success Redefined

February 12, 2013

Reporting live from day three of life without Grandma. I wasn’t too positive about what this meant for us on day one (read about The shit hitting the fan here). As the week is progressing, it’s going…well it’s going.

Noah had the opportunity to attend his first (of many more to come, I’m sure) ballet class observations. In that brief hour class, he managed to poop twice. It’s not really a party until the newborn poops himself. And that couldn’t just involve a mild aroma coming from his nether regions. No, it had to involve crescendo like gas. It seemed near impossible to think a little baby could make such rechid sounds. Thanks Noah for that, I may never be able to look those fellow observers in the eye again.

Today we embarked on the grocery store. Shopping at the grocery store flying solo is a horrible mission as far as I’m concerned. It always takes too long and no matter how organized I am, I manage to forget things and run back and forth. Today I was lucky enough to take Gabby and Noah on this lovely excursion.

In some ways running around with Gabby and Noah reminds me of taking a time machine back two years ago where I was lugging Drew and Gabby around similarly. Logistically I feel more comfortable this time around with maneuvering the two of them, especially since Noah is pretty easy now (that is until he’s not in which time he is screaming bloody murder and sending my anxiety level through the roof). Minus a near miss episode with the eggs, Gabby almost becoming a thief to a Hello Kitty bubble set and a panic attack over manipulating that mammoth of a cart (you know the cart with the germ infested car in the front that is meant to entice a toddler to sit but consistently fails) while balancing the car seat, a walking toddler in the street and the paper towels deciding to catapult off of the cart…we did alright.

So far this week we have been punctual to all events (I slid in just in the nick of time for pick up today), I have cooked meals and baked once, I have completed several loads of laundry and we have completed a few arts & crafts projects with minimal tears (mine of course). Nobody has received a time out yet, although today I needed one. Excluding dog puke last night and baby urine this afternoon, things haven’t gotten too hairy.

Despite day three “successes,” I’m ready for Grandma to come home 🙂
