Want some balls???

November 23, 2011

While some of you are slaving over a stove preparing your turkey for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I’m still working on clever, easy meal ideas for my little allergic princess. We have become even bigger fans of ground turkey meat than we already were.

Historically I have used ground turkey and onion soup mix to make delicious turkey burgers. Last night I opted for meatballs instead. Same concept, one packet of onion soup mix and one pound of ground turkey, mixed and rolled into little balls. I sauteed them in the frying pan with some Pam.

I boiled some whole wheat pasta. Lately I have been making my marinara from scratch. I use whole tomatoes (juice and all) squished up with some tomato sauce. I sautee finely chopped onions and mushrooms and 2 cloves of garlic. Add it all together, add some seasonings (basil, salt and pepper, and some oregano) and you’ve got homemade marinara!

Steam some green veggies and you’ve got yourself a home cooked, low fat, nutritious Gabby-friendly meal! It was a big hit in our house!
