Online Dating?

January 25, 2012

Match dot com claims one in five people meet their “match” online.

I say “FALSE.”

Who are these people? Oh, wait. I know who they are. They are “my cousin’s best friend’s younger sister.” Or the “woman I work with niece’s college roommate.”

I do not personally know anyone that met their husband/wife via online dating.

I admit, I went down the JDate route once before. I met some nice people, some weirdos (made for good stories), but all in all, I felt it was more hassle than it was worth.

Most of my single girlfriends have done online dating at some point. And the biggest complaint was not the bad dates (those were fun to talk about later) or the time spent (a girl’s gotta eat), but that it felt like a job.

The most amazing part of dating is the feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you meet a guy you like. But online dating seemed to take this feeling away. Maybe I was jaded. Maybe I was just tired.

Do you know anyone that met their love online? How many dates did it take? In the end, it probably doesn’t matter how many dates you go on, or how you get those dates.

For now, I think I will just stick to my day job.

  1. My cousin married her JDATE match and my other friend met hers…they are both happily married with children! IT DOES WORK!
