I’m Done!!!

June 30, 2015

June is a very exciting, busy month. I don’t  want to wish away a second of our “summer” (I’d like it to act a little more like summer!!)!!  That being said, I could not be happier for June to be over.
A birthday in our family is not just one day filled with frosting and friends. A birthday is a day that starts out at the crack of dawn with breakfast in bed and ends with red carpet treatment into the wee hours.  Somewhere shortly before/after is a kid party that has to be imaginative, different and exciting complete with amazing goodie bags. Please don’t forget the family party for all our amazing relatives to celebrate our children.
This past month two out of the three of my children had their birthdays and the third celebrated his 2-1/2 birthday which is more noteworthy in our family than a whole number birthday, complete with a party at Chuck-E-Cheese. We had a total of 6 parties in the month of June. Sheesh!!!!
I am done celebrating. I am done trying to make fireworks happen, ironically when fireworks will happen without my efforts. I am over spoiling my ungrateful rugrats. I am done providing meals, ordering cakes, stuffing goodie bags and nagging about thank you notes.

You know how April is described as in like a lion, out like a lamb. That’s how June feels for me but in the opposite.  It starts with Drew’s birthday that everyone is happy to celebrate (lamb). It ends with Gabby’s birthday where Drew makes it very known his distaste in celebrating his sister (lion!!!).  If all the legwork, stress and exhaustion with making my kids feel special wasn’t hard enough, throw in World War 3 with Drew and I’m spent!!!  It’s unfortunate that it has to be Gabby’s birthday that I end up wearing thin with because she already has the ugly task of being the middle child and only gender. That’s just how our life goes though…

At this point all I can say is bring on July where no one in my family has a birthday!  Maybe we should make July the month of mommy – in with fireworks and out with peace. A girl can dream, can’t she?!?!
