Drew’s World

April 24, 2014

Remember those days with your first born where you spent hours at home allowing for that child to nap, preparing for their nap, transitioning them from their nap. Well those days are gone…long gone.

The sad thing is that 2 out of 3 children would benefit from our crew staying home and actually observing a traditional nap time.

Putting aside all the conflicting reasons I have with Gabby napping, it’s Drew’s world. Speaking of birth order, no matter what I say or do we are all going to be wrapped up in catering to him first and foremost. What am I gonna do, leave him at school because the “measily” third child needs a nap?! Not to mention that the baby NEEDS this nap so desperately since he’s being dragged to another Drew event this evening.

How is it ever possible to give the subsequent children any of the same opportunities that the first born gets?! I remember mentioning to the pediatrician my concerns of giving Drew a sibling (while preggers with Gabby). He said that it’s important for children to realize that the whole world isn’t about them and siblings help them to realize this. The problem is that, although Drew may see it differently, the whole world still caters to him and the other two are the ones who are constantly slighted. Drew’s life remains the priority and each one to follow gets less and less. I should have been concerned with my unborn babies and not my first born!

Well Noah and Gabby, I think you’re just gonna have to take what you can get. And that is a big brother to look up to, who G-d willing will become your “forever friend” someday and a nap in the car!!!
