We are picking up and leaving this town. Tomorrow marks, in addition to being the beginning of the three week break from Drew’s school, the first day of our beach vacation to Michigan. In so many ways I’m ecstatic about having some time away from real life. In some ways I’m thrilled about abandoning the craziness of our rituals of our life. But you guessed it, I’m going to take this opportunity to focus on how CRAZED I feel right now!
First there’s Drew, he’s absolutely bound to feel at some point during this vacation that there’s some incredibly essential toy that he must have and does not. And although I recognize that when that very temper tantrum starts, it probably would happen regardless of that toy being there or not, I still want to lay the ground work for the least amount of tantrums over a six day experience. Trying to anticipate what that toy may have to be, is enough for me to pack every toy in our house.
Then there’s my wonderful eater, Gabby. I’m sure the grocery store owned by Herb and his family for the last four generations that is the only one in the twenty mile radius has dairy-free, rice-free, no eggs, low gluten and minimal traces of soy crackers that she just can’t live without. I better stock up on those ahead of time!
And for some odd reason, I’m usually completely on top of the errands and necessities ahead of time, I decided to wait until the day before to get absolutely every errand done. What was I thinking?!?! My list for tomorrow is about three pages deep with seven stops and dragging both kids for all the festivities. I really set this one up for success.
The good news is that I will have the opportunity to spend the time when they FINALLY go to sleep packing up the entire family and car. All just in time to wake up at 5am and hit the road! Wish me luck!
You will have a blast…just post pictures please!
