Minivans = Parenthood?

August 19, 2014

Why don’t minivans come with a bank teller/Walgreens style box system where one could pass a much desired snack (or equally as necessary item) to the back row?!? I heard new minivans come with a speaker system where back row can hear better. I can promise the back row can hear my screams and it’s quite possible that a speaker would not reduce the amount of screaming. Can you please explain why the very moment I actually need the child to be louder, their voice becomes so very soft?!? A minivan should be equipped with a walkie/talkie system where one might be able to completely MUTE the back row entirely 🙂

Day one-ish/two-ish of family vaca was my family in a dreamland. I wouldn’t by any means say that everyone was perfect but I don’t expect that. I literally felt like this was what family memories are made of. Laughing on the beach, snuggling on the couch, post dinner dance parties – it was the best. It was sunshine and rainbows, the way I dreamt motherhood to be.

Day three, not so much. It was fun, don’t get me wrong. It was just the
normal temper tantrums, family chaos I’m used to. And it might have hurt a little more because I was coming off of the high of actually being the parent (family) I dreamt about being.

I guess parenthood is just like a minivan – a little easier, more comfortable but still has a lot of room for improvement. Wish me well for the remainder of our vacation.
