Hitting the Road

July 2, 2013

Tomorrow I am doing the unthinkable. I’m providing a whole plane full of people a reason to use birth control. I am taking three children on an airplane!!!

I’m excited to get away from the craziness of our real life. It’s not that taking three kids who completely and totally thrive on routine and their comfort zone world isn’t crazy. It’s that it’s not our normal chaos. I will not be packing camp bags, I will not be doing loads of laundry and I will not be providing Mom’s Shuttle Service for the next five days.

I will, however, be managing three kids in a variety of non-kid friendly environments. The first of which is the three hour plane ride, and is followed up by a three hour car ride. I somehow have to pack up enough clothes and essentials for five people for five days in a maximum of four bags. I’m sure that will be an easy endeavor.

I’m looking forward to attending a family wedding with tons of extra hands. Although I know there will be tons of stressful situations where we will have to manage behaviors, logistics and moods, there will also be at least one moment (there better be at least) where I can sit down for at least a milisecond because my kids are terrorizing some family members. Now that’s a vacation!!!

This trip may reinforce my agoraphobic feelings or it may show me a glimpse into the world of leaving the house completely outnumbered by scoundrels. Either way I’m taking this giant leap with the best attitude a girl overrun by mini-people can have. I’m throwing caution to the wind and I’m shlepping three car seats. I’m sighing a big sigh of relief while maneuvering one double stroller and one single. I’m charging electronic devices up the wazoo. I’m also carrying around large doses of Benedryl. Now I just need to pack 🙂

See you in a week!!!
