Do-able

April 23, 2016

Disclaimer: I don’t follow all the intricacies of Passover. I pretty much just avoid bread and bread-style products. I don’t clean out my kitchen or do anything fancy.

It is very important to me that my children have some basic identity with our family customs. It’s less about being dogmatic about our religion and more about passing on the rituals and customs that have been important to my family. I feel that this is my way of passing on my values to my children.

Since we are observing Passover, and it is often hard to manage with kids, I thought I’d share my weekly food menu. Hope this helps those of you navigate the challenge of feeding our children nutritious food while observing Passover. I can barely handle getting my kids to eat when I’m serving a strict diet of noodles, let alone without noodles in my arsenal!!!

Sunday:
Breakfast – Fried Matzah
Lunch – Matzah pizza
Dinner – Leftovers from seder

Monday:
Breakfast – Smoothies
Lunch – Tuna fish salad
Dinner – Zoodles and chicken kabobs

Tuesday:
Breakfast – Matzah and peanut butter
Lunch – Gefilte Fish
Dinner – Lettuce wrap tacos

Wednesday:
Breakfast – Hard boiled eggs and yogurt
Lunch – Peanut butter and jelly on matzah
Dinner – Meatloaf (matzah meal instead of breadcrumbs)

Thursday:
Breakfast – Scrambled eggs with matzah and butter
Lunch – Turkey and cheese rollups
Dinner – Spaghetti squash and meatballs (matzah meal instead of breadcrumbs)

Friday:
Breakfast – Smoothies
Lunch – Matzah and hummus
Dinner – Matzah Pizza

Saturday:
Breakfast – Fried Matzah
Lunch – Peanut butter and jelly on matzah
Dinner – Go out and eat lots of bread!!!!

If you have any other ideas, please share!!! Good luck!!!
